A first glimpse
On Sunday 12th September hundreds of people from all over Hastings and St Leonards came to enjoy Hasting Community of Sanctuary’s feast of music, dance, talks, exhibitions, food, and the many stalls offering rich information about all the work so many groups across our town are doing to welcome refugees and ensure that everyone seeking sanctuary with us here and across the country has the right to live a free and fulfilling life as our fellow citizens.
HCoS is a member of the national campaign TOGETHER WITH REFUGEES, and on Sunday, we shared this message widely. Many people signed our Petition to our MP to work for a fairer and kinder asylum system. Here are some samples of the spirit of goodwill and welcome that was so evident throughout the day – the message very strong to stand Together with Refugees! Thank you very much to all the children who helped make this message of hope really strong!
(There will soon be a fuller report on the many and varied Festival activities and people’s responses to these. All photos provided by HCoS).
